Journaliso
Terms of Service
Last updated: November 4, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and David Kinani, the independent developer of Journaliso. By creating an account or using the app, you're agreeing to them. They're written to be read, not skimmed past — the short version: pay for what's paid, your journal is yours, don't abuse the service, and AI output can be wrong.
1. What Journaliso is
Journaliso is a voice journaling app. You record or type entries; the service transcribes recordings, gives entries titles and tags, and makes everything searchable. You can optionally connect Claude or ChatGPT to read your journal.
2. Your account
You sign in with Apple; there is no separate Journaliso password. Keep your Apple account secure — anyone who can use it can reach your journal. You must be at least 13, meet any higher minimum age required where you live, and have a parent or guardian's permission if local law requires it.
3. Trial, subscription, and what stays free
- New accounts get a 7-day free trial with no card required. Nothing is charged unless you subscribe.
- After the trial, recording new entries requires a subscription. US prices are $9.99 per month or $69.99 per year; the price, currency, billing period, and any applicable taxes shown by Apple before purchase govern your transaction. Payment is charged to your Apple account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled before renewal in your Apple subscription settings; cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid the next charge. Cancellation normally leaves access until the paid period ends. Deleting the app or your Journaliso account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Request refunds through Apple; nothing here limits refund or cancellation rights required by law.
- Reading, searching, text entry, and exporting your journal do not require a paid subscription while the service is available. These features remain subject to the technical and abuse-prevention limits below.
- If your subscription ends, we may delete audio recordings after 90 days, with email warnings first. Transcripts and text are never deleted this way. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
4. Fair use
Individual recordings can run up to 60 minutes, and voice recording has a monthly fair-use limit of roughly 15 hours on a subscription (3 hours during the free trial), resetting on the 1st. Each recording upload can be up to 256 MiB, with a 1 GiB upload allowance per account over a rolling 24 hours and up to two uploads at once. Failed or abandoned upload attempts also count toward this allowance. Finished recordings saved on your device can retry an interrupted upload. A crash, force-quit, or storage failure can prevent an unfinished recording from being saved; keep your own exports of anything irreplaceable. This keeps the service sustainable at a flat price. Text entries, reading, search, and export do not use your monthly voice allowance. Technical size limits and request-rate limits still apply to prevent abuse and keep the service available. If these limits materially change, we'll tell you in the app or by email first.
5. Your content
Your journal belongs to you. You give us permission to store and process it solely to run Journaliso's features for you, using the service providers named in the Privacy Policy. Sending content for AI processing requires the separate AI Processing permission in the app; accepting these Terms does not replace that choice. We claim no ownership of your content. Processing permission lasts only as needed to provide the service and complete deletion, subject to your choices and the limited retention and legal obligations described in the Privacy Policy. You must have the rights and any legally required consent to record other people or upload their information.
If you connect Claude or ChatGPT, anything those services read from your journal is handled under their own terms and privacy policies, not these. Deleting an entry moves it to Recently Deleted, and it is permanently removed from Journaliso after 30 days (or sooner if you delete it there); it doesn't remove copies already held in a conversation with those services.
6. AI-generated output
Transcripts, titles, tags, and summaries are generated by AI and can be wrong — sometimes confidently wrong. Check anything that matters. Journaliso is a journal, not a medical, psychological, legal, or financial advisor, and nothing it produces is professional advice. If you're in crisis, contact local emergency services or a crisis line rather than an app — in the US, call or text 988.
7. Acceptable use
Don't use Journaliso to break the law, and don't attack the service: no probing or disrupting the infrastructure, no circumventing usage limits or subscription checks, no reselling access, and no automated scraping outside the export and connector features built for that purpose.
8. Availability and changes
Journaliso is built and run by one person. It aims to be reliable, but it comes with no uptime guarantee, and features may change or be discontinued. For a planned discontinuation, we will give reasonable advance notice and an opportunity to export. Outages, security incidents, or legal restrictions may prevent advance notice or immediate access.
9. Ending things
You can stop any time: export your data and delete your account from Settings. We can suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or abuse the infrastructure; if that happens, contact us to request an export of your own journal, subject to identity verification, security restrictions, and legal requirements.
10. Disclaimers and liability
Journaliso is provided "as is". To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Journaliso in the 12 months before the claim. These limits do not exclude liability or consumer, privacy, or warranty rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
11. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change to these terms, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect and update the date at the top. If you keep using Journaliso after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can export your journal and delete your account.
12. Apple
If you get Journaliso through Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app. These terms are between you and David Kinani, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for Journaliso or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and isn't responsible for handling any claims about it — including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance, or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to meet any applicable warranty, you can notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price, and to the maximum extent the law allows Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
13. General
These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and, if you got Journaliso from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, are the whole agreement between you and us about Journaliso. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part of these terms isn't a waiver of it. You can't transfer your account or these terms to someone else; we may transfer them to whoever takes over running Journaliso, and these terms will continue to protect you.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Georgia, United States, except where mandatory law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere. This choice does not remove mandatory protections available under the law where you live.
